eBay Inc. is an American multinational corporation and e-commerce company in which people buy and sell goods via Internet based auction style sales. Amazon.com is an e-commerce company that enables customers to sell their products and fulfill orders through the company’s websites and the seller s own websites. Both of these sites sell a wide range of products, from clothing and fashion accessories to large electronic goods. Though these two companies both began as an online-based company that links buyers to sellers, they have evolved over the years to incorporate each other’s more successful elements. However, there still are some key differences between the two websites. To most people, Amazon is a retailer company that sells products to consumers, but eBay is an online-auction house where consumers congregate to sell their goods to one another. Up until recently, eBay has been considered one of the most successful internet-based mega-firm that has been discussed and studied by several expert economists. However, recently, Amazon has expanded vastly while eBay has experienced what is thought to be downfall that even the article â€Å"Why Amazon Should Buy eBay† appeared in the New York Times. This has been well demonstrated in the market value of the two companies. Not many years ago, market value of eBay was 3-4 times higher than that of Amazon. However, because of recent innovation in Amazon, their market value up-trended 150% to 45 Million dollars whereas eBay stillShow MoreRelatedTaking a Look at eBay Inc.978 Words   |  4 PagesIntroduction As the majority of us know, eBay Inc. is an American based (Headquarters: San Jose, California) multinational corporation that is dominant on the internet for consumer-to-consumer product or goods sales. eBay Inc. was founded in the year of 1995 as a personal project by its founder cum creator, Pierre Omidyar, for his personal goal of assisting his wife’s personal hobby of collecting Pez dispensers. Oriented Normative Model Cost A Accounting â€Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Oriented Normative Model Cost A Accounting? Answer: Introducation Flexible budgets adjust in accordance with the volume of activity. It is preferred than static budget as it remains to one amount even though the change in volume of activity. In accordance with the study of Tukhvatullin, Pratchenko (2014 ), budgets are prepared at the end of the period so that they can be compared with actual performance and the objective behind the same is performance can be improved in accordance with variance derived. For example, in case cost of electricity and supplies to a manufacturing company is ascertained $10 per machine hour. Further, an approximate has been estimated that each month 4000- 7000 hours will be operated by the labourers. Now, in case the actual rate determined in less than $10 than it will be in favour which means that efficiency has increased and in case rate is more than $10 than same requires being improved. Budgets which are necessarily required to be prepared before cash budget are: Expense Budget: Expenses budget is required to be prepared as it comprises details regarding the operating expenses which have been incurred during the year. The amount which has been paid in cash will be reduced as cash outflow relating to operating expenses and will provide the amount remaining for financing and capital expenditure (Otley, 2015). Sales Budget: Sales Budget provides detail relating to sales occurred during the period. The same details are provided in cash inflow which is added to existing cash balance. The total amount specifies the amount available for operations and other expenditure. Capital Expenditure Budget: The budget provides detail relating to capital expenses incurred during the year. The same is specified reduced from net cash available after reducing operating expenses during the year. Operating cycle specifies the time required for producing as well as selling the product. On the other hand, cash cycle specifies the manner in which company is managing cash. A long cash cycle represents the unhealthy condition of the firm and vice versa short cash cycle represents the efficient performance of the firm. Working capital ratio and Inventory turnover ratio are the two main variants of this cycle as the first specifies whether working capital obligations are accomplished or not and the other specifies the no. of times organizations sell their stock within a specified period. Another essential variant of this cycle is collection ratio which represents regarding the efficiency of the organization in recovering their money from creditors. No, I do not agree with the statement that accounting is not necessary for government organization as it is for the private organization as it is not having worries regarding profit. The fact that no economic activity can attain victory without accounting specifies the reason behind same. Although government sector organizations are not having main aim of earning profit, they are required to record transactions in an appropriate manner and required to ascertain whether the money is applied in appropriate manner. In accordance with Libby and et al. (2015), the same cannot be accomplished without the assistance of accounting. Thus, accounting is a necessary requirement for both governments as well as private sector. The foremost objective of costing system is ascertainment of the selling price of a product and makes efforts to reduce the cost of the product. Determinations of cost assist manager in ascertaining the amount that is required to be charged from buyers. Further costing system assesses the manner in which resources is applied by each department so that if any case of misuse of available resources exists that same can be improved. It plays major role in developing financial system as the details provided by costing system in eventually applied by accountants Manufacturing overhead allocation rate = Total manufacturing overhead / total machine hours = $ 598080/7000 = $85.44 / machine hour. Administrative overhead allocation rate = Total administrative overhead / total direct labour hours =$695520 / 14000 = $85.44 / machine hour Price = (Total material + Overhead + Labour)/100*140 = ($19000+$66060+$34176) / 100*140 = $166930 The main reason for which allocation of overhead while quoting jobs or determining price is that expenses work as a base for determination of price and other activities such as purchase of raw material is not provided in direct material and direct labour thus the same is reflected in allocation of overhead (Abernethy, Bouwens and Lent, 2013). The main reason behind the application of predetermined overhead allocation overhead rather than actual rate is that actual rates are not available every time. Moreover, predetermined rates are more reasonable as actual rates vary in accordance with dependable external circumstances (DRURY, 2013). References Abernethy, M.A., Bouwens, J. and Lent, L. 2013. The concluding scene of Blood Brothers Essay Example For Students

The concluding scene of Blood Brothers Essay Another disadvantage would be that the actors would only be able to enter from the left and right hand sides of the stage. There are, however some advantages of a proscenium stage such as, the actors not having to turn their backs on the audience this would contrast to the event of blocking in the round. Another advantage of this type of stage, is that the set can easily be changed which, contrasts to an in the round stage, where the characters would have to change the set during the production. In the concluding scene of Blood Brothers, I am going to have stage props such as a podium and a few chairs facing it, I have chosen to do this because the stage directions state we see Edward, standing behind a table, on a platform. The fact that Edward is raised, gives the impression that he has more status in society and is more important than the others who will be positioned on the stage. The podium will be lowered from the roof of the stage, allowing it to be easily removed from the set. We will write a custom essay on The concluding scene of Blood Brothers specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Two other councillors will accompany Edward, however they will not be on any kind of raised platform, as this will still allow Edward to look superior. When Edward has been shot I will remove the podium and chairs. Instantly after Mickey is blown away he will fall next to Edward, this will depict they now both have the same status in society: neither is better that the other, death really is the leveller. Minor stage props will be brought on stage by the actors and actresses; however the characters will not stop or pause during the process of this, all props shall be brought on stage during the enactment to keep flow of the play by casually and simply moving around them. The simplicity of the scenery and props will be capitalised on, in a way that it will serve to emphasise the quality of the acting, as there will be nothing fancy to distract the audiences attention. The audience will be entirely focused on the central issue of the relationship of the two brothers and the tragic irony of their contrasting lives. There is the additional dramatic irony that only the audience knows the full story. (The main characters die not knowing that story. I will also use stage props so it is not hard to distinguish where the characters are. For example, in the final scene, Edward is delivering a speech at work the props shall be set up to look like his place of work. At the beginning of the final scene, I will use normal lighting as Edward is delivering his speech. At this time, Mickey bursts in unsteadily and is unsure of himself; in the process of this the lights will be dimmed. This is to create a form of tension in the audience; I have also chosen this because I want to create an effect, which will encourage the audience to focus on the two main characters, Mickey and Edward. At this point Mickey shouts aggressively, just get out of here, mister, now! (Directed, at a councillor) which shows the seriousness of the situation. The remaining councillors hurry off stage from all exits, to create havoc and panic, to contrast with the coming silence. The lights are now turned off completely. Two white spotlights will then appear, one over Mickey and the other over Edward. When the guns are fired and both fall to the ground the lights will fade from a white glow to a blood red to emphasise their death. At this point Linda and Miss Johnstone huddle around the Blood Brothers, mourning. The characters all freeze as a soft glow of light falls over the narrator, which captures the audiences attention. The narrator slowly walks around the edge of the stage inspecting the freeze frame whilst reading, and do we blame suspicion In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Britain was experiencing an economic decline and hardship, which mainly affected working class people. .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 , .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .postImageUrl , .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 , .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930:hover , .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930:visited , .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930:active { border:0!important; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930:active , .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930 .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1f0ea12fc6a80cfdf30b9d4558488930:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: How does Shakespeare make the audience feel about Juliet and her parent in Act 3 Scene 5 EssayThe main reasons for this were: the governments reaction to the coal miners demands, (they tried to turn the nation against the miners by imposing the three day week). Power cuts resulted from a lack of coal to fuel power stations and this lack of electricity caused a domino effect in industry. Many other workers were on short time or laid off. The price of oil worldwide was raised which affected the price of all commodities, making life difficult for people not able to earn much money. At the same time, more working people especially adults, such as Willy Russell benefited from the extension of educational opportunities. Having learned to think, they found they had plenty to think about in Britain. During the 1970s, many of them formed strong political views, often very sympathetic to workers. There are many organisations such as the Socialist Workers Party, which were popular amongst many young people. The mass recession of the 70s caused many problems regarding social class. Most people of working class were forced to have their houses repossessed due to the three-day week regulation. At the time of the recession, people rebelled against most of the governments decisions. A clear example of this would be they way people portrayed their views via fashion. The working class people had a propensity to dress as punks they dressed like this as a way of expressing their opinions and anger. In the enactment, Russell successfully portrays this via the character Miss Johnstone. She is from a working class background and struggles economically during this era. Her son Mickey is also at a disadvantage because of this. His endures a poor education and is suspended from school due to behavioural problems. Mickey was unaffected by this because he assumed he was not going to get a job if he continued learning, due to the circumstances. He was later imprisoned, and became economically depressed. The Lyons, depicted in the play, are a very prosperous family and live a contented life during the three day week. Mr Lyons has a well-paid job, which enables the family to weather the economic crisis. Their son Edward is highly educated which provided him with the opportunity to follow in his fathers footsteps. In comparison the two families lead very contrasting lives, which clearly depicts the economic circumstances in the mass recession.

Population Biology Basics

Population Biology Basics Populations are groups of individuals belonging to the same species that live in the same region at the same time. Populations, like individual organisms, have unique attributes such as growth rate, age structure, sex ratio, and mortality rate Populations change over time due to births, deaths, and the dispersal of individuals between separate populations. When resources are plentiful and environmental conditions appropriate, populations can increase rapidly. A populations ability to increase at its maximum rate under optimal conditions is called its biotic potential. Biotic potential is represented by the letter r when used in mathematical equations. Keeping the Population in Check In most instances, resources are not unlimited and environmental conditions are not optimal. Climate, food, habitat, water availability, and other factors keep population growth in check due to environmental resistance. The environment can only support a limited number of individuals in a population before some resource runs out or limits the survival of those individuals. The number of individuals that a particular habitat or environment can support is referred to as the carrying capacity. Carrying capacity is represented by the letter K when used in mathematical equations. Growth Characteristics Populations can sometimes be categorized by their growth characteristics. Species whose populations increase until they reach the carrying capacity of their environment and then level off are referred to as K-selected species. Species whose populations increase rapidly, often exponentially, quickly filling available environments, are referred to as r-selected species. Characteristics of K-selected species include: Late maturationFewer, larger youngLonger life spansMore parental careIntense competition for resources Characteristics of r-selected species include: Early maturationNumerous, smaller youngShorter lifespansLess parental careA little competition for resources Population Density Some environmental and biological factors can influence a population differently depending on its density. If population density is high, such factors become increasingly limiting on the success of the population. For example, if individuals are cramped in a small area, the disease may spread faster than it would if population density were low. Factors that are affected by population density are referred to as density-dependent factors. There are also densitys of density-independent factors might include a change in temperature such as an extraordinarily cold or dry winter. Intra-Specific Competition Another limiting factor on populations is intra-specific competition which occurs when individuals within a population compete with one another to obtain the same resources. Sometimes intra-specific competition is direct, for example when two individuals vie for the same food, or indirect, when one individuals action alters and possibly harms the environment of another individual. Populations of animals interact with each other and their environment in a variety of ways. One of the primary interactions a population has with its environment and other populations is due to feeding behavior. Types of Herbivores The consumption of plants as a food source is referred to as herbivory and the animals that do this consuming are called herbivores. There are different types of herbivores. Those that feed on grasses are referred to as grazers. Animals that eat leaves and other portions of woody plants are called browsers, while those that consume fruits, seeds, sap, and pollen are called frugivores. Predators and Prey Populations of carnivorous animals that feed on other organisms are called predators. The populations on which predators feed are called prey. Often, predator and prey populations cycle in a complex interaction. When prey resources are abundant, predator numbers increase until the prey resources wane. When prey numbers drop, predator numbers dwindle as well. If the environment provides adequate refuge and resources for prey, their numbers may again increase and the cycle begins again. Competing Species The concept of competitive exclusion suggests that two species that require identical resources cannot coexist in the same location. The reasoning behind this concept is that one of those two species will be better adapted to that environment and be more successful, to the point of excluding the lesser species from the environment. Yet we find that many species with similar requirements do coexist. Because the environment is varied, competing species can use resources in different ways when competition is intense, thus allowing space for one another. When two interacting species, for example, predator and prey, evolve together, they can influence the evolution of the other. This is referred to as coevolution. Sometimes coevolution results in two species that influence (both positively or negatively) from each other, in a relationship referred to as symbiosis. The various types of symbiosis include: Parasitism: One species (parasite) benefits more than the other species (host).Commensalism: One species benefits while a second species is neither helped nor injured.Mutualism: Both species benefit from the interaction.

Analysis of Walmart Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Analysis of Walmart - Research Paper Example More than 90% of respondents said that Walmart’s leadership style is result centred and people focused (Foroohar, 2012). The managers interviewed confirmed that the people elected into leadership positions are servant leaders with sharp business minds, global outlook and a clear vision for the company. The company’s elevation was guided by leaders who constantly inspired their subordinates to work hard and steer the business to the next level of success (Roberts & Berg, 2012). The observation exercise revealed that leaders were understanding, inspiring, thoughtful, kind, and considerate and involved their subordinates in decision making. The subordinates were very happy with their leaders and perceived them as very helpful and pleasant to work with (Creswell & Clark, 2007). More than 90% of respondents said that transformational leadership was effective because it encourages and motivates employees to form common organizational goals, which has seen the firm transform from a small business to a multinational retail corporation. 87% of respondents said that leaders’ behavior increases performance by motivating, training and pushing employees to give their best. More than 90% of employees (respondents) were happy to work for the firm. The dissatisfied group gave reasons such as poor working conditions and low pay as major dissatisfiers The research also revealed that Walmart has good leadership that is guided by strong business ethics. An Unstoppable Convergence - Coursework Example This fact has formed, as Ralf Nader puts it, a kind of â€Å"duopoly† in American political life. Yet the point is that when one party loose, another party takes benefits from that. Along with the winner ideas and interests of this party are established on the highest level. And whoever comes to power, the result is always the same – â€Å"a corporate statist†, because one ideology can only win by restraining another. But that’s not how things naturally should go in the society. Nader says in Introduction, he had noticed that an ideology doesn’t matter in people’s everyday life. When he was young and helped with the local restaurant his father owned in Winsted, Connecticut and also, when Ralf Nader was hitchhiking, he noticed that people did not organize themselves according to their political views, but they have gathered together a common interest and common current thing they need to do. Therefore Nader stresses on the idea that ideologica l confrontation disappears when there’s a clear understanding what thing is the right thing to do. Behind an ideological explanation of the problem, there's always a common issue which can be found and shared by different parties adherents. In U.S. history there are a lot of examples of such cooperation, or â€Å"a convergence† as Ralf Nader puts it. That means it’s not only an interpersonal relationships’ characteristic. In 1982 a coalition against The Breeder Reactor Project in Tennessee was formed.
